I've just finished reading this book - Water for Elephants. It's a cracking read and I can't recommend it enough. The story is set on a circus train in 1931, and is about a young vet named Jacob, a circus performer called Marlena and an elephant called Rosie. It's a beautiful, yet sometimes cruel story - well worth giving it a go. I couldn't put it down.

What to read next though? I've got a couple of light hearted romantic novels on my bedside table, including the new Shopaholic one. Maybe I should read something a bit more substantial, but I don't know if I'm in the mood for a more serious book at the moment. Any recommendations?

That sounds good, I might give it a go. Have you read Kiss and Tell by Fiona Walker? It is absolutely brilliant. I couldn't put it down, especially towards the end, where I had to sit and read loads in one go.
