My Star!

Morning.  Today is my lovely husband's birthday.  Here is the card that I made for him.  I took the inspiration from a card I saw on the Internet - www.stempel-biene.com/ . It's virtually a CASE card with a couple of little tweaks.

The colours are Smoky Slate and Real Red, and I used Gorgeous Grunge, Simply Stars and Four You.  There are a couple of small stars punched out of red glimmer paper.

Do you ever make a card that just feels right, like it's meant to be?  That's what happened with this card, it just went like a dream - no mistakes, no dropping the inked stamp onto the card!

Right, time to go.  It's back to work for me today.  Hope you all have a good day, in spite of this horrible weather.  Stay safe.

Take care

Sweet Sorbet 2

Morning!  After a busy start to the day, I thought I would sit down with a cup of coffee and share another thank you card made with the Sweet Sorbet DSP.

This time I have used Crisp Cantaloupe as the base card, and teamed it with the dotty paper from the set.  I added a strip of white card with the sentiment stamped on it, and I stamped the petals from another Sale-a-bration set - Petal Parade - onto Crisp Cantaloupe and cut round it.  This was mounted on 3D foam.  A couple of gems completed the card.  Nice and simple :)

I have to say, I do love these papers.  They are really pretty and fresh. Perfect for post-Christmas cards.

Well, that's me for today.  Got to go and make the most of some precious "me" time.

Have a good day and take care.

Sweet Sorbet 1

Well, it's Sunday evening and the holidays are nearly over.  Although both my children go back tomorrow, I still have one more day.  That is not to say it will be a calm lazy day.  Oh no, well certainly not in the morning.  I will still be getting up at 6am to get Emily out of the house by 7.30am (she is starting a new work placement and has to be there earlier than her previous place), and then I'll be whizzing back, traffic permitting, to pick Edward up and drop him at school with his saxophone (couldn't learn a small instrument could he?!).  And no doubt my lovely Chloe will turn her big brown eyes towards the front door, and sigh meaningfully!

Hopefully after all that, I may find a little crafting time.  Today, I've done something I'm quite proud off.  Now don't laugh - I've been making Christmas crackers with the new SU envelope punch board!  I really wanted to make some for Christmas presents for my fellow Scrapbaggers, but time ran away with me.  So I decided to get ahead of the game for Christmas 2014.  They are not ready to share, I've only made the basic cracker and covered them with paper, and I'm probably going to leave embellishing them for another time, but the main work is done.  Maybe I'll pop a photo of them on here in the next few days, we'll see.

However I do want to share a card with you tonight.  I have used the beautiful Sweet Sorbet DSP from the new SU Sale-a-bration promotion, to create a thank you card.  I love this floral paper, it's definitely one of my favourites from the pack.  I kept the colour scheme to Pool Party, Basic Black and Whisper White.  The sentiment is from Four You, and I just added some grosgrain ribbon and a couple of gems.

I hope you like the card.  It was very quick to make and looks quite pretty.

How's it going with any resolutions you have made?  I have not made any as such, although Mark, Emily and I are doing something Emily is calling Junk-Free January!  We have given up puddings, chocolate, fizzy drinks, biscuits, cakes, takeaways etc and we are allowed alcohol only at weekends!  It's very hard :(  The trouble is, we have so much chocolate knocking around.  As some of you know, I work in a school, and the children and parents are very generous.  Therefore I have had to put a huge plastic storage box of lovely goodies away at the back of my under stairs cupboard so that we will not be tempted - I feel like it's calling to me!!  However, I WILL RESIST.

Thanks for dropping by, and as always your comments mean so much to me.  Good luck with your resolutions - I'll keep you posted about JFJ!

Take care

Christmas Cards and Card Swaps 9 and 10

Happy New Year!  Hope you all had a brilliant Christmas and that you found time to sit back and relax.

Yesterday I finally got my act together and got round to photographing the lovely handmade cards I received from friends and from my Card Swap group.  The first one is from Ann, who was my official swapper for December.  Isn't it beautiful?  I love the red card with the cream and the champagne glimmer paper - it's stunning.

The next card is from Vicky.  I love the colours and the contemporary design, it's completely my thing.  The red, turquoise and white work so well together  - Vicky is a genius!

The next card is from Zoe, another member of the group.  It's such a simple card, yet so effective.  I still shy away from Washi tape (even though I have quite a collection), but it looks fab on this card, and the colour scheme is great.

Sue, another group member, sent me this beautiful card.  The textures on this card are fantastic, and I love all the little extras.  Sue is such a talented card maker and makes stunning cards.

The final card today is from Aileen and was November's swap - the challenge was to use a favourite stamp.  The colours are fabulous and I think the stamp set is so pretty.

I feel so lucky to have received such beautiful cards.  I'm really looking forward to seeing what the lovely Jane has planned for the card group for 2014.  Right, time to strike while the iron is hot, and I'm off to make some cards - Mark's birthday is on Tuesday so I had better get my act together!

Take care
